This book is the first book in a series called Cherub. It is a series for young adults. 'The recruit' is about a 12 year old boy named James, he has a mum, step dad and step sister called Lauren. A girl in James class was annoying James about his mom being fat and he got into a fight. Then when he got home his mom was dead. So he went to a boarding school and a week later he woke up at Cherub...

What is cherub?
Cherub is a branch of British Intelligence. Its agents are aged between 10 to 17 years old. Cherubs are all orphans who have been taken out of care homes and trained to work as undercover spies. They live on the cherub campus, a secret facility hidden in the English country side.
I would recommend this for kids over eleven years old.
